A day to commemorate farmers’

‘Farming looks like mighty easy when your plough is a pencil, and you’re a thousand miles from the corn field’ President Dwight D. Eisenhower

As human beings, only once a lifetime we may need a lawyer, a preacher, a police man and perhaps few times a Doctor but we unquestionably need a farmer thrice a day. Farmers are the backbone of the nation and no nation can develop without them.

India celebrates Farmers Day on December 23rd, in the memory of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the ex-Prime Minister who was a farmer primarily, and he lead extremely simple life. He has done a major contribution to improve the condition of Indian farmers by understanding the real problems of farmers and helping them. Entire India celebrates Farmers day as Kisan Divas. Farmers and members of rural community organize agricultural shows, meetings, and pay homage to their beloved leaders on this day.

A day to commemorate farmers’ is just right; the vital role they play in this society can never be unnoticed. There are umpteen things that are required to be done for improving the condition of farmers without whom our day to day needs may fall at stake. As citizens of an agrarian country, let us accept it as a rule to support and contribute at least a bare minimum to improve the condition of our farmers.
